Law Enforcement to Carry ‘Flame of Hope’ Through Cheyenne
The Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" will make its way through Cheyenne Thursday morning before arriving in Laramie for this year's Summer Games.
Officers from around the Cowboy State have been carrying the torch in 19 legs of the Law Enforcement Torch Run to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Wyoming athletes.
The Cheyenne leg will start at 9:30 a.m. near Storey Gym and end at the Wyoming Supreme Court building, where Gov. Mark Gordon will give a short speech to the athletes.
Over 800 athletes and coaches will be participating in the Summer Games -- one of five state events held annually for Special Olympics Wyoming.
Events start Thursday at 1 p.m., and include aquatics, track and field, basketball and powerlifting.
