When the students leave Laramie for the summer, our town seems to shrink.  The lines at the check-out stands dissipate substantially and traffic becomes almost nonexistent, but what to do with the extra time?  Without question the outdoors has plenty to offer with camping, fishing, hiking, but if one wants to really try something new, something that can be done year-round, how about Yoga?  Over time, Yoga can change one’s life in addition to improving flexibility and reducing one’s stress level.

ligaments, muscles, and bones.  Yoga is a wonderful way to stay healthy.  One can work at one’s own pace and skill level with the added result that Yoga will also help enjoy one’s active lifestyle much more.  Yoga is fun and it’s for anyone and everyone, no matter one’s age or fitness level.

Our town offers various options in terms of classes and teaching styles.  the recommendation is to give it a little time and try different classes until one finds the right one.  Here are some suggestions:  The Eppson Center has a very nice, expanding yoga community.  The instructor is Connie Currie, who is a 20 year practitioner of Iyengar yoga, which focuses on the use of props and the correct positioning of the body.  Connie uses hands-on teaching to make sure each student feels safe and is ready for the next step.  She believes in creating a comfortable and supportive yoga community for all ages and abilities.  Classes meet Wednesdays, 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  All equipment is provided; call 742-0350 for more information; the cost is $7 per class.  Yoga Oasis offers a number of different classes; information can be found at yogaoasis.biz.  Hot Power Yoga also offers different types/styles of classes; information is given at hotpoweryogalaramie.com. Blossom Yoga is yet another option; that information is found at blossomyogastudio.com.
