It was a terrific fall season for Laramie Middle School’s cross country program. That was highlighted by a recent win at a regional competition.

The Laramie Middle School cross country team won the middle school division of the Nike Cross Regionals Northwest meet in Boise, ID.

Head coach Travis Miller told KOWB in a release that they had trained together over the last few months with an idea of going to see larger competition, and all that hard work and dedication paid off.

“We as a coaching staff could not be more proud of these athletes and this girls’ team! As a coach, this team is so special, and on top of winning, we made so many great memories! Look out for these athletes in the future because they are already looking to defend their title next year!”

After going undefeated in Wyoming, the Laramie Middle School team won a 5A cross country meet in Denver, CO. That’s when a decision was made to compete in Boise.

Each runner posted a personal-record time, as six of the 11 runners placed inside the top 14 of their age group.

Eight-grader Libby Roesler took third place with a time of 11:31.50. Sixth-grader Savannah Graef was fourth in the middle school division. She was the 5/6 Grade Nike Cross Regional champ. Her time was 11:36.20. Three seventh-graders placed in the top 15. Lainey Berryhill was tenth with a time of 11:56.50. Brynlee Enveoldsen finished 13th at a time of 12:09.30. Finally, Anna Kaiser took 15th place. Her time was 12:10.80.

Laramie finished with 21 team points for first place. Bozeman (MT) Track was second with 42. They were followed by North Boise (ID) at 64 points and Canyon Track (Caldwell, ID) with 108 points.

Other members of the Laramie Middle School Girls cross country team that ran in Boise included Moorea Caputo-Wilkowski, Romy Hoyt, Claire Arens, Ava Krueger, and Delaney Suloff.

Laramie Middle School was also represented in the middle school division by one male competitor. Eighth-grader Darin Binning finished fifth with a time of 10:26.20.

The coaching staff included head coach Travis Miller and assistants Cassa Massine and Clare Kortlever.

Three athletes automatically qualified for the Nike Cross Nationals in Oregon. That meet will not take place in 2021.
