Laramie Man Arrested After Reports of Gunfire
A Laramie man has been arrested after the Albany County Sheriff’s Office received reports of gun fire on Tuesday, June 19.
At about 11 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 3400 block of Ft. Buford for multiple 911 reports of gun fire. When they arrived at the scene they determined that a man had been heard screaming and walking around an RV which was parked in a field at that location.
The man, Patrick Vail Smith, 47, was currently inside the RV. Deputies tried to contact the man with a PA system, but he refused to follow any of the deputies’ commands. Eventually, deputies made phone contact with Smith and he followed their commands to exit the vehicle and he was arrested without injury.
During their investigation, deputies found that numerous shots had been fired, possibly toward the east and west at unknown targets. Deputies checked numerous properties and vehicles for damage but did not find any.
The Sheriff’s Office is currently asking any residents in that area to check their property and vehicles to see if there is any damage, specifically bullet holes and report anything to the non-emergent dispatch line at 307-721-2526.
Smith is being held at the Albany County Detention Center on charges of reckless endangerment and possession of a controlled substance.
