
Jalan Crossland Receives Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award
Jalan Crossland was recently honored at the 2012 Wyoming Governor’s Arts Awards. The annual dinner and ceremony was held February 8thin the Grand Ballroom of Little America Resort in Cheyenne.
The Ten Sleep resident is only the second musician to receive the Governor’s Arts Award in the last decade. Governor Matt Mead presented the award which recognizes artists, arts organizations and patrons who have displayed excellence in the arts, as well as outstanding service and dedication to the arts in Wyoming. The Wyoming Arts Council honored two other recipients this year as well - Advocacy for Visual Arts (AVA) Center in Gillette and visual artist and educator Lynn Mumms of Casper. The gala event was attended by more than 500 patrons, artists, legislators and previous winners. Crossland has recorded six albums and performs solo and full band concerts throughout the year.
