The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for areas of southeast Wyoming on Monday.

As of noon on Sunday the watch area included Cheyenne. The city of Laramie was not included, but eastern Albany County almost to the outskirts of Laramie was covered by the watch.

 

The agency posted the following on its website:

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for portions of eastern Wyoming for Monday, September 9th. Warm and dry conditions along with gusty winds are expected, leading to the potential for easier fires starts and quicker fire spread

On April 6 and 7, 2024, wild winds exceeding 90 mph blew through SE Wyoming, causing havoc in Cheyenne and on the interstate. Everything from fences to semis were upturned in the wind storm. Check out the damage shared by residents below.
