A 58-year-old Colorado man is dead after rolling his car on Interstate 25 north of Cheyenne, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.

It happened around 1 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at milepost 20.8, near the Ridley Road exit.

According to a fatality crash summary, Kevin Bathauer was headed north in the right-hand lane when he went off the interstate to the right, slid down the shoulder and through the right-of-way fence, and went airborne.

Bathauer's car reportedly traveled approximately 89 feet through the air before landing on the driver's side, rolling, and coming to a final rest upright.

Bathauer, who the Patrol says was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected during the rollover and died from his injuries.

The summary lists other and a possible medical condition as possible contributing factors.

Bathauer is the 66th reported person to die on Wyoming's highways this year.
