A 37-year-old Cheyenne man is out on bond after being arrested and charged with child abuse.

According to arrest records, police were called to Charles James Baca Jr.'s home at 1418 Woodward Dr. around 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, in reference to child abuse.

Police say Baca was heavily intoxicated and would not follow instructions.

Police say Baca tried to go inside when told he was not allowed to, tried to walk away, kept standing up when he was told to stay seated, and tried to walk toward his three daughters after they were separated to be interviewed.

Police say Baca's daughters reported abuse and had minor injuries consistent with the described abuse.

Baca was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of felony child abuse and interference with a peace officer.

Baca made his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court Wednesday morning and afterward was released from jail on a $2,500 cash bond.

He is scheduled to be back in court next Thursday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.

Children's Advocacy Project Pinwheels for Abused Children

In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America introduced the pinwheel as the new national symbol for child abuse prevention. Why? Because by its very nature, the pinwheel connotes playfulness, joy, and childhood. It has come to serve as a physical reminder of the great childhoods we want for all children.
