Albany County Sheriff’s Office: Boswell Road Is Not A Public Road

The Albany County Sheriff's Office is reminding people that Boswell Road is not a public road.

Boswell Road is a roughly 11-mile stretch that winds through the Snowy Range Mountains. Though it goes over the Colorado border in a couple of spots, it's mostly located in Wyoming. Part of it runs through property owned by former Gov. Matt Mead.

The Albany County Commission in 2023 passed a resolution specifying that it isn't a county road. The resolution reads in part "Approve the Resolution, which reflects that Boswell Road is not a County Road, cannot be declared as such given lack of recorded rights-of-way, and County's intention to not pursue prescriptive easements to obtain said rights-of-way."
