Cheyenne East track athlete Taliah Morris will be staying close to home as she has signed on with the University of Wyoming in Laramie.  Morris is the 3-time 4A state champion in the long jump and set the 4A record at the Outdoor State Championships in May with a leap of 19.8-5. She missed the overall state record by just a half an inch. She also placed 2nd in the 4A 100-meter dash at the 2023 State Meet with a time of 12.26.

As a sophomore, Morris made it to the top of the podium at the 2022 Outdoor State Meet in the long jump at 18-11, She placed 2nd in the 100 again at 12;16 and her 4x100 meter relay team for East took 5th.

Her winning ways in the long jump started in her freshman season with an effort of 19-1 to win the 2021 4A Outdoor Championship. She also won the state title in the 200-meter dash in 26.76 and took 2nd in the 100 at 12.83. Her 1600 sprint medley team placed 3rd at the state meet.

Morris enjoyed a spectacular State Indoor Track Meet back in March with 3 gold medals. She set the overall indoor record in the long jump at 19-2; she won the 55-meter dash in 7.19, the 200 in 25.55, and placed 3rd in the triple jump, going 33-3.5. In 2022, she placed 5th in the 55 and her 4x400 relay team took 4th at the Indoor State Meet but won the state title in the 55 her freshman year in 7.35. Morris in 2021 was 4th in the long jump and 6th in the 200-meter dash.
