ICYMI: Laramie Touch-A-Truck a Tactile Titillation for All

Heavy equipment fans of all ages converged upon the Laramie Recreation Center and Ice and Events Center for the 6th Annual Touch-A-Truck. There were airhorns, lights, and sirens nestled in among the large yellow construction vehicles and small bodies being lifted in and out of the massive trucks.

The City of Laramie Parks and Recreation Department hosted the event, where children got to honk horns to their parents’ eardrum delight, and dads enjoyed a bit of Father’s Day fun, talking big-truck shop with the operators on site.  

The Laramie Police Department, Albany County Sheriff, Highway Patrol, Laramie Fire Department, School District, and the City of Laramie brought trucks and cars with sirens, ladders, blades, plows, and giant tires, as well as a school bus, tactical truck, road grader and a snowcat.  

Pete Lien brought a slew of construction equipment: a haul truck, backhoe, and bulldozer; Laramie GM Auto showcased some new pickup trucks; Rocky Mountain Reclamation had a flatbed and a John Deer tractor. The crowd-favorite Memorial Hospital of Carbon County helicopter made an appearance, as well as the Albany County Library Book Bus. 

Goodie bags were handed out with the famous Touch-A-Truck t-shirt, toy car or truck inside to pair with complimentary snacks and lemonade. 

The annual event has become a staple for the Laramie springtime agenda and helps raise money for the Recreation Center’s Scholarship Fund. The Scholarship Fund aids families access memberships and other recreational activities and programs for children, so a big shout-out to the City, sponsors, and patrons of the event who help support fun for everyone.
