Golfing for Mental Health: Laramie’s Cathedral Home Cup
The 11th Annual Cathedral Home Cathedral Cup Golf Tournament will be held today, July 21 at Jacoby Golf Course in Laramie.
This year’s tournament has raised over $40,000 thus far, and over $300,000 has been raised through all Cathedral Cup tournaments to date.
Cathedral Home Director of Outreach and Retention and golfer Julius Stinson appreciates the yearly fundraiser for the recognition it brings to the work CHC does.
“It helps us raise money and awareness for the growing need for mental help services. The generosity of people and their donations impacts how we are able to provide services and care to our community, youth, and families."
This year’s tournament comes after the release of Ivinson Hospital’s Community Health Needs Assessment for 2023-2025, which places social and economic factors and behavioral health (which includes mental health, suicide, and substance-use disorders) as the top two most important elements that Albany County needs to address for the health of our community.
“That is a priority of ours, broadening access to care. Mental health is health and we want to eliminate financial barriers for families. The supports and compassion we provide through our crisis center, residential campus, resource center, and our new outpatient therapy helps our youth and their families work through trauma. If that’s providing individual or family therapy, getting access to health care, or riding a horse, we make sure they have the resources to thrive in life,” Stinson said.
In June alone, Cathedral Home programs served 211 individuals through Community Counseling, a new CHC program launched in the Fall of 2022; Resource Center programs, the Laramie Youth Crisis Center, and Residential Treatment. Last year, CHC served 499 youth and families.
The tournament is supported in part by Cathedral Home Partners In Hope, a compassionate alliance of business leaders in our community committed to supporting access to care for youth and families, along with tournament sponsors and teams.
