The earliest start date in the history of Wyoming football now has a game time. The Cowboys’ 2018 debut at New Mexico State will be at 6 p.m.

The announcement came Thursday for the game that will be played Aug. 25 at NMSU’s Aggie Memorial Stadium in Las Cruces, NM.

This contest will be the second-ever between the two schools in football. The first was the 1953 season opener in Laramie, which resulted in a 47-0 victory by UW.

The Aug. 25 date surpasses the previous earliest start in Cowboy football history of Aug. 28, 1997, when Wyoming played at Ohio State in the Eddie Robinson Classic. The Pokes played tough but lost that game 24-10.

With this announcement, six game times are known for the upcoming 2018 season. Other kick-off times include 1:30 p.m. for the home opener Sept. 1 versus Washington State. The game at Missouri Sept. 8 will be at 5 p.m. The next game Sept. 15 at home against Wofford will be a 2 p.m. kick-off. The only other two start times available are Boise State at home Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. and at Colorado State, Oct. 26, at 8 p.m.

More game times will be released in the near future when additional television coverage from Mountain West partners like AT&T SportsNet, Spectrum Sports (Hawai’i) and Stadium is announced. ESPN Network game times are released 12 days prior to kickoff.

Season tickets and single-game tickets are on sale for the 2018 Wyoming football season.
