Four Cowboys Receive Prestigious Honor From NFF
Four Wyoming football graduates have displayed their prowess on and off the football and have been named to the 2019 Hampshire Honor Society.
Wednesday, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) unveiled their 2019 Class.
The former Cowboys that received the distinction are Nico Evans, Adam Pilapil, Nick Smith, and Andrew Wingard.
Head coach Craig Bohl in a released statement from the University of Wyoming praised the four honorees.
“These four young men have been outstanding representatives of our football program throughout their careers. They were a huge part of our success on the field as leaders of our program, and they obviously succeeded at an extremely high level academically. I want to congratulate Nico, Adam, Nick, and Andrew on receiving this prestigious award.”
In order to be eligible for the Hampshire Honor Society, a college football player must have reached a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better, meet all NCAA or NAIA progress toward degree requirements, been a starter or significant contributor to their team, and must have completed their playing eligibility in the most recent season.
Evans graduated with a 3.36 GPA with a degree in communications. Pilapil also earned a degree in communications and had a 3.33 GPA. Smith had a 3.92 GPA for his degree in finance, while Wingard finished with a 3.22 GPA for his degree in management.
This is the first time Wyoming’s had four players receive this honor in the same year. Six previous times, UW had three individuals chosen in a single year, most recently in 2015. This is the 12th time in the 13-year existence of the Hampshire Honor Society that the Cowboys have had at least one player honored.
