Each year, we take time on Nov. 11 to honor those who have served and sacrificed in the United States Armed Forces.

Veterans Day coincides with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, marking the end of World War I at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.

Among many events that will be held commemorating those who make the day what it is, a Veterans Day Walk will be held tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon. The American Legion Riders invite the community to join them and Vietnam veteran Daniel Santisteven, who will carry a POW/MIA flag, as they walk along I-80 from Laramie up to the Lincoln Monument.

The Laramie Rec Center will welcome anyone who has served in any branch of the armed forces at no charge on Veterans Day -- just be sure to bring military ID or other documentation of service.

As for the City of Laramie, administrative offices will be closed Friday, so plan your city business accordingly.

The landfill will be closed, but trash and recycling pickup will continue as normal.
