Rubber ducks will be competing in a head-to-head race down the Laramie River on Saturday, July 18 at the Rotary Club’s Eleventh Annual Big Laramie Duck Race.

The race takes place on the Laramie River next to Optimist Park.

Spectators can enjoy a free pancake breakfast at Optimist Park at 8 a.m. The pancake breakfast is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.

The race will provide activities for children and features over $1,000 worth of door prizes. No purchase is necessary to enter the door prize drawing.

Ducks go in the water at 9 a.m., and the race is expected to last about 10 minutes.

Tickets for the duck race are going fast. Tickets may be purchased at the Laramie Boomerang office with cash or check. As of 11:15 a.m., the Laramie Boomerang office was quickly running out of tickets, so calling ahead to check availability is encouraged. Tickets are $10 per duck or 3 ducks for $25.

The person with the ticket for the first place duck will win $2000 in cash, donated by Premier Bone and Joint. Second place will win $1,000 and third place wins $500. You do not need to be present to win.

Proceeds from the Big Laramie Duck Race benefit local organizations including Downtown Clinic, Coats for Kids, needy families at Christmas and UW/LCCC scholarships.
