Cheyenne Man Arrested, Charged With Child Abuse
A Cheyenne man has been arrested and charged with child abuse after police responded to his residence Monday evening and found his 2-month-old son limp in his crib.
Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Dan Long says 33-year-old Patrick Kays "was frustrated with the kid" and "picked him up in anger."
"He (Kays) said he was heavy-handed," said Long. "He said he lost his balance when he jerked the kid up and then he fell into the Pack 'N Play."
"The child was taken to the hospital and it was found that he had signs of abuse," Long added.
The baby was flown to a Denver hospital, but his condition is unknown.
Kays was scheduled to make his initial appearance in Laramie County Circuit Court Wednesday morning.
