Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney says ''secret impeachment" hearings being held by House Democrats are a "miscarriage of justice."

The congresswoman made the remarks during a news conference held by Republican members of the U.S. House in Washington D.C. this week.

Cheney, who is a Republican, had the following comments:

REP. LIZ CHENEY: Good morning everybody, welcome back. I hope that you all had an interesting and a useful break. I know that all of my colleagues and I enjoyed very much the chance to be at home, talking particularly with our constituents about the issues that are facing them and the real frustration I think that we all heard in terms of what’s not getting done because of the impeachment effort that’s underway.

I think one of the really important things to recognize about the impeachment effort is the extent to which the materials are being kept in secret, not just from the public, but kept in secret from other members. We have had members go down and attempt to read the transcript, for example, of Kurt Volker’s testimony and they were denied access.

The Constitution of the Untied States does not say that the power of impeachment resides with Speaker Pelosi, it doesn’t say it resides with the Speaker of the House, it doesn’t say that it resides with the chairman of the Intel Committee, it says it resides with the House of Representatives and it is really shameful miscarriage of their responsibilities and their duties for them to be conducting this exercise in which they will not even share information with members of Congress beyond the select few that they have identified.

So we are going to continue to focus on that, to talk about that, and I am, in just a minute, going to introduce one of our colleagues who has a resolution that’s focused very much on Chairman Schiff’s unconscionable behavior with respect to impeachment.
