One of Wyoming's creepiest ghost stories involves a historic Catholic mission on the Wind River Reservation.

Built in 1884, St. Stephens Indian Mission was one of two schools in the area. After an Episcopal mission was constructed for the Shoshoni at Fort Washakie, the Roman Catholic Diocese established a school for Arapahoe children.

According to local legend, two nuns who taught at the school hung themselves in what is now the girls' locker room. Although there is no public record of any suicides, many believe their ghosts still haunt the room.

Over the years, dozens of students claim to have seen the nuns. There have also been reports of strange noises along with showers and lights mysteriously turning on and off.
