Bestselling Author Cheryl Strayed to Visit UW
New York Times Bestselling author Cheryl Strayed will be stopping by the University of Wyoming's Arts and Sciences Auditorium to give a public lecture, followed by a book signing on Thursday, March 22nd.
During her visit, Strayed will also participate in two Q&A sessions with students in the English and Creative Writing programs.
In a press release from the university, professor Brad Watson, who is also the Program Director for UW's Creative Writing Program said that he hopes Strayed's visit would "attract fans not just from UW and Laramie, but from all over the state and northern Colorado."
Though Strayed has had multiple novels on the New York Times Bestseller list, she is best known for her novel "Wild," which was adapted into a major motion picture starring Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. In addition to her writing career, Strayed also hosts "Dear Sugar Radio," a podcast based on her "Dear Sugar" advice column.
Of Strayed's other works, university professor Peter Parolin said in a press release that "her writing...contains some of the most empathetic literary engagements with human suffering" adding that "We are lucky, indeed, to spend some time with her at UW this spring."
The lecture is free of cost and will not require tickets for entrance. Doors will open at 4 p.m., and the lecture will start at 5 p.m. The book signing, which is hosted by the University Store, will take place in the Arts and Sciences lobby.
