Mimi’s Consignment and Resale Shop

Mimi’s Consignment and Resale Shop is a unique little store located on the northern edge of downtown. The clean, boutique-like store is meticulously decorated and filled with a variety of unique apparel pieces and accessories. Because Mimi’s is a consignment shop, going there is like going to a different store every time. You never know what new shirt you will pull for the racks. Mimi’s also has a section for vintage apparel, offering a great way to add an attention-getting piece to your wardrobe. Prices are also affordable; and the owner only takes quality clothing, so you will not be wasting your time digging through clothing you would never dream of wearing. So head down to Mimi’s and see what you can find!

Of all the stores mentioned in this article, Maurices is the only store that is connected to a larger, national chain, which gives it some advantages and disadvantages. Advantageously, it is one of the larger clothing stores in Laramie, and it also has an online store where you can order similar items after trying them on in the store. There are also more national promotions, which makes shopping a little more affordable if you are willing to watch the sales. However, the clothing found at Maurices is less unique than the clothing found at other places, such as Sensuous She and Mimi’s. Additionally, the clothing line is developed on a national basis, without the Laramie’s weather in mind. Nevertheless, Maurices does provide a great place to pick up a new piece in a hurry.

Sensuous She

While the name might lead others to think that this store has a very unique line of apparel, one reviewer said “Don’t let the name of the store scare you away.” Sensuous She has a variety of comfortable appeal clothing for women, as well as a variety of jewelry and other accessories. This little boutique store provides women in town an alternative to driving to Fort Collins or Cheyenne for fashionable clothing. It’s also great if you need a fun new party dress or new piece of clothing for a special occasion. The store also has an annual side walk sale with great bargains, so if you can wait a bit for your next new piece, it might be worth the patience.

Cross-Country Connection

While it may be nice to have a closet full of Ann Taylor or Charlotte Russe apparel, sometimes clothes designed for business and social events just don’t cut in negative 20 degree weather and 50 mile per hour wind. For survival’s sake, every wardrobe should carry a few articles of outdoor clothing. Fortunately, Cross-Country Connection has the perfect selection of outdoor appeal, as well as casual appeal. Cross-Country Connection carries Columbia, Mountain Hard Wear, Patagonia, Pearl Izumi, and Outdoor Research outerwear apparel. There is also a variety of outwear options, ranging from soft shells to parkas and down jackets. They also offer a variety of casual wear, such as t-shirts, long sleeves, and sweaters. If you have your eye set on something that is not in stock, Cross-Country Connection will order it in for you. And if you’re a little nervous about branching out from Nordstroms, remember that in Laramie, a Patagonia Nano Puff is as stylish (if not more stylish) than a Ralph Lauren pea coat.

The Brown and Gold Outlet

No Wyomingite’s new wardrobe is complete without at least a few pieces that show Wyoming pride. While there are multiple places to buy Wyoming gear in town, the Brown and Gold outlet provides an option to buy gear both online and in-store. Additionally, a portion of every purchase a the Brown and Gold or online goes directly to the University of Wyoming Athletic Department, which means you are not only showing your Wyoming pride, but also supporting it. The Brown and Gold has a variety of women’s specific clothing, such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, polos, hats, jackets, long sleeve t-shirts, shorts, and pants. Many of the clothing options also come in non-traditional Wyoming colors, such as pink, so there is something for everyone. There is also specific gear for UW alumni. Finally, the Brown and Gold offers some Wyoming-inspired accessories like pony-tail holders and barrettes.
