With the sunny summer weather, it’s time to pull out your swimsuit and get ready for a summer of splashing. Laramie has three great options for outdoor swimming, two of which don’t even require adults to get wet themselves. So grab some sunscreen and the kids and head out and enjoy the sunshine without getting too hot or sweaty.

  • Laramie Recreation Center

The Laramie Recreation Center has the only large outdoor pool in Laramie. However, it is always a great choice for families because there are waterslides and other fun water-based equipment. For an additional charge, users can also access not only to the outdoor pool, but also to indoors pools, a lazy river, playground equipment, and waterslides. The recreation center’s pool hours vary, but can be checked online. For just the outdoor pool, children and teens get in for $3 and adults are $4.50. Memberships can also be purchased.

  • Undine Park Splash Pad

If you’re not sure that you want to swim? Then take your kids to the Splash Pad at Undine Park. The Splash Pad is a cement pad that has several tall, multi-colored poles that spew water. Kids can run around the poles, get wet, and splash. The Splash Pad is perfect for introducing young child to water and all the fun it can be.

  • Washington Park Wading Pool

The wading pool and Washington Park lets adults get their feet wet and kids play. Like the Splash Pad, the wading pool is a great way to let young children become comfortable in the water before taking them to a larger pool. The wading pool is also easier for adults, as they do not need to worry about bringing their own swimsuit or getting wet. However, make sure to keep close watch on your child as there are no lifeguards.
