Behind The Scenes: Absentee Voting Deal In Albany County Revealed
Albany County Clerk Kayla White says an agreement has been reached to post Republican and Democratic Party poll watchers observing absentee voting starting on Tuesday.
That's according to a release from the clerk's office.
According to the release, each party's county chair is supposed tl submit a list of poll watchers and their schedules to the clerk's office at least 7 days before the start of absentee voting.
But White says that Albany County Republican Chair Roxie Hensley accidentally missed this year's deadline. Because of that, White notified Hensley that poll watchers would not be allowed at the absentee voting location. The release says White and Hensley have been trying to work out an agreement since Monday, October 7.
Agreement Reached
According to the release: Wednesday, they met and agreed that under Section 4(c) of the Wyoming Secretary of State’s Rules for Polling Places (Reference No. 002.005.14.08262022) a remedy is possible, and the Albany County Republican Party has now submitted its list of names and schedules of those who will serve as poll watchers for the remainder of the 2024 General Election absentee polling place to Clerk White.
With an agreement in place, poll watchers will be in place to watch absentee voting starting on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
