This Friday, March 30th, Teatro Milagro acting group will be coming to the Laramie Civic Center to perform their self-written play, B’akun 13. This Hispanic-based play, revolves around prophecies about B’akun 13, which is the final era of the Mayan calendar.  Tickets are $5-$10 for the only showing at 7:30pm of Friday and can be bought online or at the door.

The play begins with three Latinos being picked up by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The three are sent back to Mexico where certain prophecies surrounding B’akun 13 begin to become forces within the play. In the Mayan jungle, they find visions of the earth flooding, demons, and goddess. A hurricane ensues, and the characters are sent off into uncharted lands…

The play aims to get audiences thinking about the issues or immigration, assimilation, identity, and acceptance while the world teeters on the edge of doomsday.  The play marks the breakdowns of boarders, but also the beginning of a new understanding of how the world is socially constructed.

The play is produced and performed by Teatro Milagro Group, a subset of the Miracle Theatre Group.  Teatro Milagro is the bilingual touring component of the larger organization, and normally performs across Latin American. The mission of the Miracle Theatre Group is to “provide quality Hispanci theatre, arts, and cultural experiences.”
