Are Wyoming Voters Legally Allowed to Take ‘Ballot Selfies’?
Election officials across the country are dealing with a new issue this year. Is it legal for voters to take and publish "ballot selfies" inside polling stations?
In many states, it is illegal to photograph completed ballots. Some states prohibit photography inside polling places altogether.
According to the Wyoming Elections Division, there is no state law either limiting or prohibiting voters from taking pictures of their ballots or posting them online.
There are also no federal "ballot selfie" laws on the books to date.
Make sure to get out and vote on November 8th. And, if you want to post a "ballot selfie" on Facebook, you can do that too.
A list of all Wyoming elections statutes, along with a voter's guide, is available via Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray's website.
