It isn’t often that Laramie residents get the chance to hear solo harp music. A unique and versatile instrument, the harp has long been limited to Classical and traditional music. In her Wyoming debut Martha Gallagher, the Adirondack Harper, will show the inspiring breadth of possibilities in harp music.

Her performances consist mainly of her own compositions in styles ranging from jazz and contemporary folk to Latin and everything in between. Gallagher tours regularly and has been featured as a clinician, performer and workshop presenter at the Berklee College of Music, the Boston Conservatory, the American Harp Society National Conference and many Harp Festivals. As an actor, a storyteller and a poet, her performances go beyond typical concert expectations.

In addition to excellence in music, Gallagher works to offer an intriguing and entertaining experience for audiences. She has been called “an Adirondack treasure – Janis Joplin, Joan Baez and Jean Redpath all rolled into one” by Todd Moe of North Country Public Radio.

The concert begins at 7:30p.m. this evening at the Alice Hardie Stevens Center, 603 Ivinson Avenue. The suggested donation for attendance is $10.00. Proceeds will be shared with the Laramie Plains Museum. For more information call Laramie Chamber of Commerce member Alice Freeman at 307-745-3950.
