The Invincible Czars to Perform at Gryphon Theatre
Ensemble group The Invincible Czars will be stopping by the Gryphon Theatre tonight to perform a live musical accompaniment to the classic 1922 film "Nosferatu," based on Bram Stoker's Dracula and starring German actor Max Schreck.
The performance is part of the group's spring tour, which also includes performances alongside the 1920 film "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," starring John Barrymore.
According to a press release, the Invincible Czars "use a mix of acoustic and electric instruments, sound effects, and vocals to add a distinct and tastefully modern touch to their performances, giving contemporary audiences a clear context in which to appreciate silent cinema."
The release adds that the group has been given praise for making silent films "actually scary" for its audience. Audience members are encouraged to wear gothic-inspired clothing to the show.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by clicking here. Doors will open at 7:30 and the show will begin at 8 p.m.
