A Laramie man seeking a seat on the Albany County School District No. 1 Board of Education was arrested Saturday on a misdemeanor property destruction charge at Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

Jason Stenar Clark, 36, was taken into custody at about 1:10 p.m. Saturday after allegedly "destroy[ing] the drop ceiling and exit sign in a treatment room at the Behavioral Health Unit," according to the police citation.

It is not clear why Clark was in that particular unit. Hospital officials declined to comment Tuesday.

Lieutenant Gwen Smith of the Laramie Police Department confirms Clark's arrest but was not able to release any other information, as the case is still open.

Clark is due to appear in Albany County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Thursday for his initial arraignment. If convicted, Clark could spend up to 6 months in jail and pay a $750 fine.

According to his Facebook page, Clark is a self-employed program analyst. He announced his candidacy for school board in May, hoping to represent Area A.

Clark has not responded to a request for comment, but we will update this story if he gets back to us.
