CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Five candidates have filed to challenge incumbent Republican Sen. John Barrasso in the Aug. 21 primary.

The five challengers include former Roman Catholic priest Charlie Hardy, who ran unsuccessfully for the Senate in 2014 as a Democrat against Mike Enzi, and Jackson Hole businessman Dave Dodson, who originally announced as an independent candidate but made a late switch to the GOP.

The winner of the primary among the six candidates advances to the general election.

Gary Trauner, of Wilson, is the lone Democrat to file for the seat and will be unopposed for the party nomination.
