5 Ways to Spend Valentine’s Day in Laramie
Valentine's Day is next week and with it falling on a Thursday night this year, it may be best to plan to do something in town. If you have yet to start planning anything, we've got you covered. Here are five ways you can spend Valentine's Day right here in Laramie.
Take a French Cooking Class
The Copper Kettle will be holding a hands-on class in which participants will prepare and cook a classic French dinner before sitting down for a candlelit meal. Everyone will also be treated to a decadent chocolate dessert. Be sure to sign up in advance, as there are limited seats available. Tickets are $40 for singles and $70 for couples.
Attend a Musical
The Unexpected Company, Senior Community Theatre, is presenting "A Few Good Years" over Valentine's weekend. This musical comedy love story about two best friends scheming to get their widowed parents together will open on Valentine's Day at 7:30 p.m. at the Alice Hardie Stevens Center. Tickets are $15 per seat with Valentine refreshments included.
Enjoy Some Jazz
The Wyoming Jazz Ensemble will be performing with saxophonist Dave Pietro on Valentine's Day in the Arts & Sciences Auditorium. The concert will start at 7:30 p.m. with tickets costing $10 for the general public, $7 for seniors and $6 for students plus a $.50 per ticket fee.
Watch a Play
Lucky for you Valentine's Day falls right in the middle of the UW Theatre's run of "Boeing, Boeing." The Tony-Award winning comedy is a high style, knee-slapping romp through the age of glamorous, jet-setting travel. It will start at 7:30 p.m. on the Fine Arts Main Stage. Tickets are $14 for the general public, $11 for seniors and $7 for students.
Auction Yourself or Purchase a Date
The Crowbar and Grill is hosting a Valentine's Day Bachelor Auction. The bachelors will be there at 7 p.m. so bidders will have a chance to meet them and the auction will get going at 8:30. Opening bids will start at $5 and proceeds will benefit The Cathedral Home for Children. There will be drink specials and if you already have a date, there will be dinner-for-two specials.
Honorable Mention
Laramie Laughs for a Cause will be happening the day after Valentine's Day, but presenting tickets to the event could easily be turned into a romantic gesture. The "My Funny Valentine" night of comedy will feature comedian Kevin Fitzgerald with Matt Baca as an opening act. Proceeds will benefit Soroptomist International of Laramie. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will start at 7:30 p.m. with the performance beginning at 8:30. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door.
