3rd Street Reopens in Laramie: When Will Construction End?
Laramie residents' morning commute is about to get a whole lot easier. As of Saturday, October 27, 3rd Street has reopened in the Gem City. If that's not news to celebrate on a Monday morning, what is?
The reopening of 3rd Street marks a significant milestone on the street's remodel journey. The City initially announced the project back in March of 2022. The sorely needed work updates the City's water main, abandoning installing updates on the western side of the street.

Is the 3rd Street Project Complete?
Though much of 3rd Street has reopened to general traffic, some areas will remain closed through the week. Additionally (and most notably), the project is not completed.
"The right southbound lane between Grand and Sheridan will remain closed for the contractor to install concrete on each of the water valves over the next week, and then from Grand to Lewis." states the City of Laramie. There will be no parking in the closed areas while the concrete cures. The City anticipates concrete work will conclude around Veteran's Day Weekend (November 10-12).
According to the City of Laramie's Press Release, the 3rd Street project will resume in 2024 "to complete new water main installation between Russell and Palmer from April 1 – July 31, 2024."
However, the City notes that construction closures won't be nearly as extensive as this year. The Press Release indicates that traffic will be restricted down to one lane on each side expect slow traffic and delays when the project picks up again in April 2024.
