The little town of Etna, Wyo. is getting ready for a big party. On May 17th, Lloyd Baker turns 107 years young.

Born in 1911, he was the oldest of eight children. After graduating from Star Valley High School, he enrolled at the University of Wyoming and earned a degree in civil engineering.

In 1940, he married Edna Welborn. Together, they had five children, 17 grandchildren, and over 40 great-grandchildren. After designing shipyards during World War II, Baker opened a surveying company, which is still going strong. He continued to work full-time up to the age of 105 when he finally retired.

“Retirement is for old people and I don’t plan to get that way," he told a reporter at his 104th birthday party.

Baker credits his longevity to an active lifestyle and his diet of sweet, salty snacks, which includes a bag of peanut M+M's every day.

“Do things that are worthwhile," Baker said in 2011. "Work is not only fun, but it is good for you."
