For the first time in his career Wyoming sophomore kicker Cooper Rothe has earned Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Rothe accounted for 10 points in Wyoming’s 16-13 Border War victory over rival Colorado State last Saturday night. That included all six points for UW in the first half.

He set a new career-high with three made field goals in one game. Rothe connected from 43, 32 and 25 yards. He also made an extra point on the Cowboys’ game-winning drive.

Rothe visited with the media in the post-game press conference last Saturday. He addressed the impact the weather had on kicking in the game and his contribution.

Rothe is the first MW Special Teams Player of the Week from Wyoming since kicker Stuart Williams won the honor Sept. 22, 2014.

Wyoming goes back on the road to face the Air Force Falcons at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs. The game starts at 8:15 p.m.
