Wyoming’s Conference Basketball Schedules Released
The Mountain West Conference revealed the 2017-18 conference men’s and women’s basketball schedules Tuesday.
In the unbalanced 18-game slate, each school plays eight league opponents twice and two others just once. The one-time opponents for Wyoming in 2018 will be UNLV and Air Force.
The Cowboys open MW play at home on Wednesday, Dec. 27 against San Diego State and first-year head coach Brian Dutcher. They will close out the regular season at Boise State on Saturday, March 3. Defending MW champion Nevada visits the AA in Laramie on Wednesday, Jan. 24. The Pokes will play at UNLV on Saturday, Feb. 10 and host Air Force on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in their conference home finale.
The Cowgirls will start league play at San Diego State on Thursday, Dec. 28. Their conference finale will be at home versus Boise State on Friday, March 2. Joe Legerski’s squad will host UNLV and play at Air Force in February. Keep in mind that the Cowgirls’ schedule is opposite of the Cowboys in MW play.
Both editions of the Border War will be in the month of January after being later in the MW schedule last season. The Cowboys host Colorado State on Saturday, Jan. 13, which is before the students return for the spring semester. The return trip to Fort Collins is on Jan. 31.
The two byes the Cowboys and Cowgirls receive in the conference schedule are both early. Wyoming has the second date in MW play off on Saturday, Dec. 30 and will then have another bye on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
The Mountain West Basketball Championship tournament is slated for March 5-7 & 9 for the women, while the men’s tourney is March 7-10, 2018 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Mountain West television partners CBS Sports Network and ESPN will undertake the process of selecting which games they will choose for broadcast. Some of the Wednesday games will be moved to Tuesday’s, while Saturday games could be switched to Sunday’s. The announcement is expected to come sometime in August. After that regional networks, like ROOT SPORTS and the Mountain West Network on STADIUM will select games not on national TV.
The complete Wyoming basketball schedules and game times will be released at later dates.
The Wyoming Cowgirls conference-only schedule from UW is not available at this time.
