CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — State Treasurer Mark Gordon says he intends to run for Wyoming governor this year.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that Gordon says he was waiting to make a formal announcement until after the Legislature and some other budgeting projects at the treasurer's office that he hoped to keep from being politicized.

Gordon will become the first statewide elected official to enter the Republican primary field.

Other announced GOP candidates are Cheyenne attorney Harriet Hageman, Bill Dahlin, of Sheridan, Taylor Haynes, of Cheyenne, and Rex Rammell, of Rock Springs.

Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray was expected to run until his sudden resignation earlier this month following two allegations of sexual misconduct.
