A recent study conducted by Safewise.com ranked Wyoming as the worst state in the union amongst the safest and most dangerous states for drivers.

According to their methodology, data was based on information from the Insurance Institution for Highway Safety Highway Loss Data Institute on driving fatalities in each state. Unfortunately for the Cowboy State, we had the worst rankings for:

  • DUIs Per 1000 Residents: averaging over 12
  • Most Fatalities From Drunk Drivers
  • Fatalities w/ BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) = .08+ Per 1000 Residents
  • Fatalities From Speeding

The study also showed that drivers are more safe in the six states that make up New England. In contrast to that, geologically speaking, the Mountain Region is predominantly the worst area.
