Wyoming School District Faces Tax Penalty, Hopes for Waiver
CODY, Wyo. (AP) — School district officials in a city in northern Wyoming say they're facing a more than $40,000 fine for late tax payments last year.
Cody School District Business Manager Tom Sarvey says the district paid the payroll taxes late due to a mix-up with the deposit schedule.
Sarvey says the U.S. Internal Revenue Service initially sought a $60,000 fine. School officials negotiated that down and hope to get the fine waived altogether.
