CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Highway Patrol has been recognized for its criminal interdiction efforts on the state's highways.

The Motor Vehicle Criminal Interdiction Association recognized the patrol for its efforts in 2016, which included seizing an estimated street value of nearly $16 million worth of illegal narcotics.

Wyoming troopers also seized about $602,000 in U.S. currency, along with six firearms used in the commission of controlled substance violations.

Contraband seized by the patrol in 2016 includes 382 pounds of methamphetamine and about 1,800 pounds of marijuana.
