Skiers and snowboarders in the Casper area will be shredding the slopes this weekend. The Hogadon Basin Ski Area was the snowiest place in the Cowboy State this week, receiving 50 inches of fresh powder in the last seven days.

The bulk of the snow came from Winter Storm Ulmer, which dumped 40 inches on Hogadon from Wednesday to Thursday. Three hours south, Snowy Range Ski Area tallied 28 inches from the so-called "bomb cyclone".

While eastern Wyoming bared the brunt of this week's blizzard, the western half of the state is experiencing one of the snowiest seasons ever. Grand Targhee Ski Resort and Jackson Hole have both received over 114 inches.

Even at lower elevations, this week's snowstorm was record-breaking. The Casper-Natrona County Airport got 13.6 inches, the second-largest single-day total in the month of March. The Cheyenne Regional Airport reported 12 inches, the fourth highest single-day total in March.
