ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — A judge has denied a motion to withdraw a no contest plea by a former southwestern Wyoming police officer in the death of a 2-year-old boy.

Jacob Rollen Anglesey, 35, in September pleaded no contest to a voluntary manslaughter charge for death of Konnor Allen.

Anglesey requested earlier this month to withdraw that plea, which the judge denied on Monday.

Anglesey's attorney had argued prosecutors committed discovery violations and withheld evidence that pointed to an alternate suspect. The judge disputed these claims in his ruling.

Authorities say the toddler died from a head injury that was not an accident while in the care of the Green River police officer in 2009. Anglesey told authorities the child fell.

Anglesey is scheduled to be sentenced on Wednesday.
