2023 University of Wyoming Homecoming is a done deal. An exciting football win; and the full week of Homecoming fun: A Tribute and Showdeo, swing dancing, Cowboy coffee, and a parade celebrating 100 years of Homecoming were but a few highlights.

The University of Wyoming existed before Wyoming statehood in 1890; students began at the school in 1886. This year’s Homecoming theme refers to a century of celebrating homecoming festivities, not school-hood.

The parade showcased many versions of the theme; brown and gold balloons aplenty, even some blow-up champagne bottles; nods to Wyoming culture, a strong representation of the many cultural clubs at the University, half-naked fraternity members, and some amusing geriatric-themed ideas.

The winners are in, though, and here they are:

Overall Winner/Most Creative: UniWyo Credit Union

Uniwyo always makes a strong showing, having won first place many times for their entertaining choreographed numbers (thanks for the show, Dan Pasman!). This year was a dance medley, including classics Twist & Shout, Uptown Funk, All the Single Ladies, Hound Dog, and the YMCA, naturally–a Uniwyo staple.

Best Use of Theme: College of Business Green Johnson Student Success Center

The COB’s take featured walkers, grey wigs, suspenders, bathrobes, and some calf-high white socks with matching white sneakers, while groovin’ down Grand, suggesting the 100+ folks can still party.

Walking Group: Western Thunder Marching Band

Wyoming’s pride-instilling, pep-inducing marching band took the walking group category. No surprise, as 200 of the marching band were selected to travel to Pasadena, Calif. to march in the 2025 Rose Parade.

Cheers to 100 Years: 2023 Wyoming Homecoming Parade
