Officials say that although the possibility of a closure is still present, WY 230 remains open for travel. Wyoming Highway Patrol announced yesterday that the road could close due to the Owen Fire. Troopers are currently on standby for any possible road closure of the highway.

According to WHP, the weather this morning has cooperated with firefighting efforts. The forecast for this afternoon is calling for periods of 40 to 50 mph winds which could push the fire towards Fox Creek Road, Sheep Mountain and towards WY 230.
If the fire does spread towards WY 230, it will likely burn in an area which burned two summers ago which should slow the fire growth.
Motorists can check the status of the road at http://www.wyoroad.info or by calling 1-888-WYO-ROAD (1-888-996-7623).
