Four Cowgirls scored in double figures to push Wyoming past rival Colorado State, 82-67, on Saturday in Laramie. The win was the Cowgirls tenth straight at home and puts them at 17-4 overall and 6-2 in the Mountain West at the halfway mark of conference play.

"This was conference basketball at its best," said head coach Joe Legerski. "I thought both teams raised their level of play. Colorado State came out and shot the ball extremely well."

CSU (6-14, 2-5) shot 3-of-4 from 3-point range to jump out to a 16-9 lead, but the Cowgirls found their outside shot to take a 22-20 lead on back-to-back 3-pointers from Kayla Woodward and Fallon Lewis with 10:23 before halftime. The teams battled back and forth with Wyoming working a 38-34 advantage before a 3-point buzzer beater by Mandy Makeever narrowed Wyoming's lead to 38-37 at the break.

"Coach reminded us that we were winning at halftime," said senior Chaundra Sewell. "We all kind of had our heads down. For whatever reason, I guess we all expected to come out and be leading by ten points going into the locker room at halftime and to only be winning by one and it was a hard fought one-point lead, but Coach came in and told us, 'Good half.' That's how D1 basketball is night in and night out."

The second half started off much different for UW, who went on a 5-0 run and then held a double-digit lead for the final 14:42 of the game.

Woodward led Wyoming with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Sewell and Kaitlyn Mileto added 19 and 16 points respectively while Fallon Lewis added 10 pts and 9 rebounds off the bench.

"When we put Fallon into the game and she gave us that energy off the bench and was in a position to score and change things up," said Legerski. "And as I told her, 'You need one more rebound.' And she smiled and said, 'Did I have nine?' That's what I like about this group is that they're not worried about points and rebounds and then she realized she was one sort of a double-double, and that's in 19 minutes of play."

The Cowgirls will have a week before their next game to start the second half of conference play. UW will host Boise State on Saturday, February 9th at 2:00 p.m. Coverage will begin on KOWB at 1:30 p.m. It will also be a Play 4Kay game with the Walk for Women talking place earlier in the day.
