LARAMIE -- The University of Wyoming Track and Field teams competed in the Power Meet on Friday afternoon at the Hager-LeBar Track and Field Venue at War Memorial Fieldhouse.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls were joined at the meet by the Air Force Falcons and the Colorado State Rams.

“I thought it was a really good meet today and you could tell the team was excited to be competing at home again”, said Head Coach Bryan Berryhill. “From the throws to the hurdles to the sprints to the jumps, we had outstanding performances in all of those areas. We were a better team today than we were two weeks ago at Air Force, and that will be the goal all year, to get better every competition.”

Four Cowboys placed first in their competitions and the Cowboys defeated the Rams in the 1600-Meter Relay, while three Cowgirls finished their events in the top spot.

Cowboy, Hap Frketich, set a new PR in the Weight Throw with a mark of 67’-11.50”, besting his previous throw set just a few weeks ago in Colorado Springs, Colo. at the Air Force Invitational. That mark is the 10th best time at UW.

William Nolan took first place in the Long Jump, Jaymison Cox first in the 400, Wyatt Moore in the 55M dash, and the team of Cox, Tyler Dahl, Caige McComb and McCade Johnson got the win in the 1600-Meter Relay.

Jasmyne Cooper took the top spot in the women’s 400, Shayla Howell in the Long Jump and Aumni Ashby in the Triple Jump rounds out the Cowgirls top finishes.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls are slated for one more indoor meet when they travel to Air Force on February 25th-27th.
