Wyoming Basketball Player Charged with Simple Assault, Battery
Suspended University of Wyoming basketball player Nyaires Redding was charged this week with one count of simple assault and one count of simple battery.
The charges stem from a Dec. 9 altercation in Laramie. Both charges are misdemeanors.
According to citations, Redding hit two people, Katie Schrater and Molly Pickerill, while in Roxies Bar in downtown. The citations say Redding drew blood from Schrater after "nicking her nose" and that he struck Pickerill in the face, knocking her unconscious.
Redding was originally cited for disorderly conduct and inciting a fight, and was suspended from the Cowboy basketball team indefinitely.
Both charges are punishable by fines up to $750, and the battery charge is punishable by imprisonment for not more than 6 months.
Redding is scheduled to appear in Albany County Circuit Court on Feb. 4.
