Wyoming Basketball Gets a Second Shot at Fresno State
Wyoming faces Fresno State in Mountain West men’s and women’s basketball tonight.
The Cowboys play at home against the Bulldogs. Fresno State won the first meeting in California three weeks ago, 71-60. Both teams have gone 2-2 since the game on January 26.
UW comes in with a 12-14 overall record and sit eighth in the MW standings at 5-8.
The Bulldogs are tied for fourth in the league standings at 7-5 and are 16-9 overall.
Cowboys head coach Larry Shyatt has been impressed with Fresno’s perseverance through injury and suspension recently.
“To play so well, so hard and so together, it just doesn’t happen all the time. They’ve really stuck together incredibly during these last few weeks.”
The game tips-off at 7 p.m. from the Arena-Auditorium. Radio coverage will start at 6:30 p.m. on KCGY (FM 95.1).
The Cowgirls are on the road at Fresno State. They seek redemption for a 49-42 loss at home three weeks ago. Just like the men’s match-up, both these squads have gone 2-2 since the game on January 27 in Laramie.
Wyoming is 12-11 overall and 5-8 in the conference, which is eighth in the standings.
Fresno State is 14-9 on the season and sits in second in the MW at 10-2.
Cowgirls head coach Joe Legerski believes his teams must score at a higher rate to have a chance.
“We have to be able to find a way to be able to score. I think they (the Bulldogs) had double digit blocked shots, and so that creates a problem because they’re very long in their zone defense. We do have to be a little more aggressive and be able to see the opportunities that exist for us.”
The road contest for UW starts at 8 p.m. from the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA. You can listen to the game on KOWB (AM 1290) beginning at 7:30 p.m.
