At last month’s Spirit Fest in Denver, CO, the local Wyo Elite Storm cheer teams took home a pair of first-place finishes and the sportsmanship trophy.

In just its third year of existence as a competitive all-star cheer gym, Wyo Elite Storm accomplished this in their first year competing at this event. They were the only Wyoming team among those from Colorado, Montana, and New Mexico at Spirit Fest.

The youth team placed first in level one. The senior team also took home first at level one. In addition to a pair of wins, Laramie was awarded the sportsmanship trophy for all levels of competition.

There are different levels of competition that require specific skills with certain rules and restrictions within those levels. The range of levels is between one and seven.

Ashley Hubbard is a co-owner and a coach. She helped start Wyo Elite Cheer in 2016. Hubbard had plenty of praise for those that competed last month.

“We are so proud of our athletes for going to a Denver All-star competition and putting their hearts into their routines. Every athlete gave it their all and it truly showed on the mat. Our gym brought home the sportsmanship award for having the best sportsmanship throughout the entire competition. We believe we represented Laramie well, and that makes us so proud!”

Members of the winning youth team include Addisyn, Tavin, Brianna, Bree, Kaylee, Alina, Addison, and Stella.

The senior team is comprised of Maggie, Mackinzie, Brandalynn, Molly, Anna, Kate, Ciarra, Heather, Claire, Lorien, Malinah, Breckarys, Keelynne, Alaska, and Annika.

The Spirit Fest was held at Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park in Denver. It was one of several competitions held across the country each year.
