The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has posted a winter storm watch for many areas of the state starting on Saturday night and continuing through Tuesday.

Some higher elevations could receive as much as a foot of snow The service posted this statement on their website Saturday morning:

"A winter storm watch has been issued for the Sierra Madres, Snowys, and Laramie Mountain ranges from this afternoon through late Monday. In addition, the northern High Plains of Wyoming have also been included in the Winter Storm Watch as pockets of sleet and freezing rain could cause travel impacts. Worsening conditions will occur Sunday and into Monday. Stay tuned through the weekend on the latest updates and if traveling between Cheyenne and Laramie to Rawlins on I-80."
