The National Weather Service in Riverton expects snow to accumulate in Wyoming's higher elevations through Tuesday morning.

According to a winter weather advisory issued Sunday by the NWS, four to eight inches of snow is expected above 9,000 feet, with one to three inches below 9,000 feet. The advisory is in effect from 12 a.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The advisory applies to the western and eastern Wind River Mountains, Yellowstone National Park, the Absaroka Mountains, the western and southeastern Bighorn Mountains, The Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains and the Beartooth Mountains in Montana.

Snow could melt as it falls at times on Monday, the Weather Service says.

In areas where snowfall occurs, the NWS says travelers should plan on slippery road conditions, including the morning commute on Monday. Tree branches could fall, and visibility could be reduced at times.

Roads may be covered by snow for a time, and drivers should be cautious. For the latest road conditions, call 511 or visit WyoRoad.info.
