UW Department of Theatre and Dance to Perform “Chicago”
The Roaring Twenties will come back with a vengeance when Broadway’s razzle-dazzle smash musical “Chicago” hits town.
Do not expect to see the movie version here. We’re doing the stage version that has since become the longest-running Broadway revival in history.
The final show of the 2010-2011 season for the University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance, “Chicago” runs April 12 through 16 at 7:30 p.m. and April 17 at 2:00 p.m. on the Fine Arts Main Stage.
“Chicago” is the recipient of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy. The musical debuted on Broadway in June 1975 and ran for more than 900 performances. The 1997 revival is Broadway’s sixth longest-running show, with more than 5,400 performances. The 2002 film version of the musical starring Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Richard Gere won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Tickets are $16 for the general public, $13 for seniors, and $8 for students. For tickets and information call (307) 766-6666 or go online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
